Tolerance – Let’s Change the World!

Posted on January 20, 2008. Filed under: Philosophy | Tags: , , , , |

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about how much the world has changed, and how much change still needs to happen. Ever since the civil rights movement in the 60’s, people have become so much more tolerant of other’s deferences. Whether it’s race, gender, sexual orientation, or appearence, we have learned to see pass those differences and focus on the important side of life – peoples personality.

Unfortanately, there are still people dying over stuck up assholes, who refuse to accept people who don’t fit in with them. April 4th, 1968 – Martin Luther King Jr. is assasinated, because he believed that blacks and whites should live together in harmony. July 23rd, 2001, Ronald E. Gay gets life in jail for shooting up a gay bar, killing one and injuring 6. He told police his reasoning was because he was teased for his last name.

I believe that anyone can fall in love with anyone, despite gender, race, orientation, etc. I had a folder on the school system, called “henryHAVOC” and someone decided to change it to “henryFAGGOT” because of my views. Do I care what they think? No. People will never change if you call them out on it. Fighting doesn’t solve anything.

So I come to you nicely, and ask you to put down your biasses for one day. Open your eyes and see that times are changing, we can’t live by these biasses. If you could only see how amazing some of the people you wouldnt bother talking to really are inside, you would be shocked.
